7 Tips for Creating Positive Mental Imagery (and why you should want to)
We all (yes, you too) create fairly vivid and very powerful mental images of ourselves and what’s possible for us, often without being aware that we are doing so. The flavor of these images can shape how we feel physically and emotionally, impact our self esteem, and determine whether we will attempt to try things that can enrich our lives. At worst, negatively-themed imagery can leave us feeling discouraged or depressed, and prevent us from performing as well as we might otherwise. Creating positive, affirming, and vivid (and this is not limited to visual imagery) images and reinforcing these over time can help us to feel and do better. Honestly. There is a reason why successful athletes and others use the power of their minds to help achieve their goals.
